General Options

Control many the aspects of PiNote. They are divided in three main groups: General, Document, Recent files. While there are various aspects in PiNote that are not configurable, you may not even notice them. The form with the following options can be reached via the main menu from Edit => General Options.

General

From this panel, you can control PiNote's startup behavior and set other useful features.

Actions that can be activated when starting PiNote:

  • Show status bar - if selected, always displays the status bar when starting the program.
  • Show tool bar - if selected, always displays the tool bar when starting the program.
  • Show menu bar - if selected, always displays the menu bar when starting the program.
  • Show line number into editor - if selected, enable the line number tab into editor form when starting the program.
  • Show right edge into editor - if selected, enable the right edge line into editor form when starting the program.
  • Show current line highlight - if selected, enable the highlighting of the line of text you are working on with different colors when starting the program.
  • Active transparent mode - if selected, activates PiNote in transparent mode when starting the program.
  • Active stay on top mode - if selected, activates PiNote to stay always on top all windows when starting the program.
  • Clear clipboard - if selected, PiNote clear all clipboard values when starting the program.
  • Active clipboard panel - if selected enable the clipboard panel when starting the program.
  • Always active minimap panel - if selected enable the document's minimap panel when starting the program. By clicking on minimap, the cursor jump into relative document section.
  • Enable micro editor mode - if selected, it always starts PiNote with a minimal user interface
  • Always show ruler - if selected, show the document's ruler for each document

Other useful things:

  • Remember window size and position - if selected, the position, size and state of the main window are saved when you exit PiNote.
  • Allow only one instance of PiNote - if checked, you will not be able to launch multiple instances of PiNote at the same time on the same computer.
  • Allow only one instance of file in use - if checked, it will not be possible to open the same file multiple times in PiNote.
  • Reopen the last used files - if checked, PiNote will reopen at startup all files that were in use when it was closed.
  • Clear clipboard when exit from PiNote - if checked, PiNote will erase all data on the clipboard before being closed.
  • Ask confirmation before closing PiNote - if checked, PiNote will always ask the user for confirmation before closing.

Document

From this panel, you can set the editor features that will be used by default. You can choose the font you prefer, its size, its quality and so on. Also you can choose the syntax (objectpascal, c/c++, etc) that a new document takes by default. Also you can set the tab size, the limit of the undo system, enable auto completion of parentheses.

Recent files

from this panel it is possible to enable the recent files history, enable the check at start-up for their existence and set the number of files to be saved in the list from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 25.
